Karlynn is the Bar Manager at Grouse Mountain Grill. Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, she spent almost 10 years at Motor Supply Company (one of the best restaurants in Colombia) working with a cocktail program that set the place apart from other establishments. She was well trained in producing classic cocktails and was allowed the freedom to create original cocktails using contemporary techniques.
Upon moving to the area, Karlynn sought a bar position where her creativity and passion could thrive. Her cocktail menu is original and she can often be found in the kitchen brewing syrups, making infusions, dehydrating, roasting and grilling fruits to prepare the bar for service. Her favorite part of being a bartender is surprising the guests with something they have never had. Averna Amaro is one of her favorite spirits to work with because it is a bit more unusual and has a distinctive flavor profile.
Some techniques she is currently playing with are barrel-aged cocktails and “smoked” glasses using an oak barrel stave and torch. Watching Karlynn create her specialties is always entertaining and she is very generous in sharing the details of her processes and recipes.
